Our tours help their economy by paying for goods and services, such as canoe rides, visits to the indigenous communities or individual families who host our customers. Geotours also encourages small but significant positive ecological practices such as minimizing plastic bags for transporting food, instead using reusable containers. All inorganic waste generated on our trips is returned to the place of origin for proper disposal.

PUYOPUNGO FULL DAY JUNGLE HIGHLIGHTS TOUR
DESCRIPTION: Depart the Geotours office in our comfortable van for the 90 minute ride from Baños to Puyo, through the scenic Route of the Waterfalls of Sangay National Park. Along the way, our naturalist guide, a professional with extensive knowledge of the flora, fauna and culture of the area, will point out interesting information to prepare you for this exciting day! Our first stop will be at an animal refuge center where you will observe and learn about animal species like monkeys, cats, and birds representative of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
Our next visit will be to the Quichua community Coto Cocha, where we will learn about these indigenous people and view their hand made ceramics and other crafts. A beautiful ride on the Puyo river will follow, in a wooden canoe typical of those used by the community.
A traditional Ecuadorian lunch will be prepared for us at Hola Vida. We will be served a classic dish known as Maito de Pescado, which is fish that has been cooked in the bijao leaves found in the surrounding forest. This is a very healthy and tasty dish! Chicken or vegetarian options are available upon request.
The afternoon will be spent hiking through the forest while our guide explains about the unique Ecuadorian rainforest, identifying several plants with different uses and properties. Imagine a plant that can give us a temporary jungle tattoo! The hike will lead us to a beautiful hidden waterfall, inviting us to bathe in its crystal waters.
To end the day, we will watch the sun set from above the jungle canopy. An ideal time to take photos or just relax over the incredible view.
PUYOPUNGO TWO DAY EXPLORER

Our first stop will be at an animal refuge center where you will see and learn about animal species like monkeys, cats, and birds representative of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Our next visit will be to the Quichua community Coto Cocha, where we will see and learn about these indigenous people and observe their hand made ceramics and other crafts. A beautiful ride on the Puyo river will follow, in a wooden canoe used regularly by the Quichua community.

Day two begins with breakfast at 8:30. Afterward it is time to explore the deepest area of the jungle reserve. Over the 4-5 hour walk you will gain much knowledge from our guides, individuals with extensive years experience and coexistence with the jungle and its community. Big trees, beautiful flowers, colorful birds and unique insects will surround you throughout this enriching jungle tour. Lunch follows, and then back to Baños in time to enjoy an evening in our beautiful and fun town!
PUYUPUNGO (3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS)
DESCRIPTION: Geotours Three Day Jungle tour offers our guests all the highlights of the Two Day tour – a visit to the Animal Refuge, experience and interaction with the indigenous Quichua community Coto Cocha, canoe ride down the scenic Rio Pastaza, dips in the crystal waters of enormous hidden waterfalls including the spectacular Cascada Escondida, views of the sunset from an incredible lookout point high above the canopy, as well as excellent meals, traditionally prepared and representative of the local culture.
With the added benefit of an extra day guests on this tour will be fortunate to stay in two different accommodations, one in the jungle and one on the banks of the gorgeous Rio Pastaza. Weather permitting, an evening walk to the Caiman Lagoon will be exciting for those who can spot the mysterious creatures of the night!
With you for the duration of the tour is our highly experienced naturalist guide who will demonstrate for you all of the wonders the Amazon Rainforest has to offer. From unique plants with medicinal properties to volcanic mud found in the rivers used to purify the skin, he will provide remarkable insights to the world that surrounds you. And for the birding we will do on the final day, your guide help you seek out the beautiful birds of the jungle, such as colorful parrots, red headed king vultures or spectacular tangara hiding in the tree tops!
PRIMARY RAINFOREST TOURS

Ecuador’s Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve covers an area of 603,000 acres, comprising a complex system of rivers and lagoons, all supporting the surrounding rainforest. It is a place of great biodiversity, home to some of the largest concentrations of wildlife, both flora and fauna. Cuyabeno has more than 550 different species of birds, 60 types of orchids, over 350 species of fish, as well as a variety of reptiles including anacondas, caimans and river turtles.
Lucky guests on our tour will see the rare species of the jungle such as the legendary pink river dolphin, Hoatzin eagle with its wingspan of 8 feet or prehistoric looking Tapir. As part of the National System of Protected Areas, few tour operators are qualified to work in this area. As such, you will be able to explore this area peacefully, fully enjoying the sights and sounds of the magnificent nature that surrounds you.
CUYABENO WILDLIFE RESERVE 3 NIGHT TOUR
DAY 2: After breakfast you will enjoy the walk in the primary rainforest
where our professional, experienced naturalist will identify and explain the various
flora and fauna unique to the jungle habitat. After lunch relax during the drive
to Laguna Grande to prepare for our hike deep into the forest . We will watch the
setting sun while bathing in the waters of the Laguna.
CUYABENO WILDLIFE RESERVE 4 NIGHT EXPLORATION
DAY 2: Today the tour will focus on walks in the primary rainforest where our professional, experienced naturalist will identify and explain the various flora and fauna unique to the jungle habitat.
DAY 3: TAfter breakfast, paddle along the Laguna Grande in a canoe. Observe the unique environment of the lagoon and the peaceful jungle atmosphere. After lunch we will hike deep into the Amazon while our guide demonstrates plants with medicinal uses and some jungle survival techniques. Before returning to camp we will watch the setting sun and enjoy the waters of Laguna Grande.
DAY 4: Our guide will take you on an exploration of the cultures and traditions of the local Tarapuy Siona community. Your experience with this indigenous group will leave you with lasting memories of their fulfilling, simple life. In the afternoon we will participate in a fishing trip – for piranha! The evening will be enhanced by a canoe expedition in search of alligators. See if you can spot their eyes peering above the water!
DAY 5: An exciting last day will start with a sail down the river to the Shaman’s house. Guests will appreciate the rare opportunity to witness a Shamanic ceremony and be involved with a sacred part of the indigenous culture. After lunch we begin our return to Lago Agrio and Quito.
PRIMARY RAINFOREST CAMPING EXPEDITION
Embark on an Amazon adventure in the wild Ecuadorian jungle! This tour is suitable for individuals who are willing to forego the comforts of house and home to embark on an experience full of incredible natural beauty and interesting local communities. Those who love adventure and have a great desire for leaving the ordinary will thoroughly welcome this experience.
This tour will leave Baños early, 5:30 am, in order to take the three hour ride to the jungle and get a head start on the day! Our primary means of transportation will be canoes or boats depending on the number of guests and gear we have with us. Each day will include 3-5 hours on the rivers enjoying the scenery and setting up camp.
We will use a native guide who will facilitate our visits in each of the small communities along our route. Each day will offer a fresh perspective on the wilderness – whether it is a rare orchid, a unique insect, colorful bird or looming tree, our guests will be amazed at all there is to see in the Amazon during our daily hikes.
Exploration deep in the unspoiled, undeveloped rainforest is a challenge one will be so proud to have completed. Walking through jungle tundra with no trails, traveling down river on rafts, fishing for dinner, withstanding unpredictable weather with potential rain and high heat and hungry mosquitoes all add to the authenticity of this adventure!
At the end of this tour we are certain that participants will have a new outlook on the world, with a greater appreciation for nature and the importance of cultural coexistence.
