Bartholomew Tour Itinerary

The island is composed of an extinct volcano and a variety of volcanic formations in striking shades of red, orange, green, and gleaming black. It is the island of breathtaking landscapes—and penguins!

We depart early at 7:00 AM in private transportation to Baltra, where we board our vessel and navigate north for approximately two hours, passing by small islands such as Baltra, Daphne Major, and in the distance Seymour and Daphne Minor. Overhead, endemic birds of the islands soar against the magnificent blue sky, while in certain seasons manta rays leap from the water and dolphins guide us toward our destination. The journey through these blue waters is simply stunning.

We arrive at Pinnacle Rock, a needle-shaped triangular rock formation rising from the ocean, considered one of the most iconic symbols of the Galápagos.

We begin a 40-minute walk along a trail that leads to a spectacular viewpoint. Along the way, our guide shares insights into the islands’ volcanic processes as we admire the rugged terrain, cliffs, fissures, craters, active volcanoes, and the few plants adapted to the dry, hot climate, such as lava cacti. From the viewpoint, one can spot islands like Santiago, Bainbridge Rocks, Chinese Hat, Isabela, Pinzón, Santa Cruz, Baltra, Daphne, and even farther north, Marchena and Genovesa—views that will truly take your breath away.

Later, we search for penguins at Pinnacle Rock, and beneath its walls, we enjoy an extended 40-minute snorkeling session, where we may be surrounded by juvenile reef sharks, schools of tropical fish, starfish, rays, and occasionally sea lions, while blue-footed boobies perch on the rocks above.

This is an island you must add to your photo album—we are certain you will love it!
