We meet with our Naturalist Guide at 8:00 AM for an unforgettable day. After a 30-minute navigation southeast of Santa Cruz Island’s coast, we disembark at Playa Escondida, a stretch of white sand perfect for walking and swimming alongside marine iguanas. This area is also a resting spot for endemic birds and crustaceans such as sally lightfoot crabs, found among red and button mangroves.
Later, we continue navigating to Santa Fé Island, also known as Barrington. Here, in “La Encañada,” we have the opportunity to swim with sea lions and tropical fish, and occasionally encounter juvenile blacktip reef sharks, while blue-footed boobies watch us from the cliffs.
Skirting the Island of the Sea Lions, we arrive at “Bahía,” a paradisiacal spot with crystal-clear turquoise waters, home to sea lions, whitetip reef sharks, sea turtles, and, on occasion, Galápagos stingrays.
