Biking Chimborazo

We leave Baños and take a private van to Riobamba, heading 3 hours until we arrive at the Hmos Carriel refuge at 4,800 meters.

From there we will hike for 30 to 40 minutes until we get to the second refuge, EDWARD WHIMPER, at 5,000 meters. Walking just a little further from there we will arrive at the THILMAN Glacier.

After exploring the glacier we will hike back town to the Hmos Carriel refuge and begin the descent on bicycle in the CHIMBORAZO NATURE RESERVE, until we reach the village of SAN JUAN and/or RIOBAMBA. A bus will then take us back to Baños.

Biking Cotopaxi

We leave Baños and take a private van toward Latacunga, heading 3 hours until we arrive at the Cotopaxi National Park at an altitude of 4,600 meters. From there we will hike for about 40 minutes until we arrive at the José Rivas refuge at 4,800 meters where lunch will be served. After another 30 minutes of hiking we'll see the glaciers and take in the spectacular views from Cotopaxi.

Next, we'll head back down to our starting point, grab the bikes, and begin our descent in the COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK stopping at the Limpiopungo Lagoon and the museum.

We'll finish the descent at the park security check-point where the van will be waiting for us to take us back to Baños.

Biking Tungurahua

9:00am We drive 40 minutes from Baños (1,820 m.) to Pondoa (2,800 m.)
10:00am 3 hour hike to the Nicolas Martinez refuge (3,800 m.). From here we will have an excellent aerial view of the mountains, valleys, and rivers surrounding us. There will be time to rest and take pictures of the beautiful countryside.

1:00pm Lunch (sandwich, beverage, fruit)
2:00pm 1 ½ hour return trip to Pondoa
4:00pm 1 hour bike ride from Pondoa to Baños
5:00pm End of tour

 

 

Biking the Waterfall Route

Leaving Baños we bike 21 km. in the direction of Machay (mostly downhill)
After 20 minutes we'll arrive at Agoyan, the first waterfall, where we will stop to rest and take pictures. The next stop is Manto de la Novia where we will stop and cross over the impressive Pastaza River in a cable car.

The views of the waterfall from above the river are unbeatable. After 18 km. we will arrive in the town of Río Verde (Green River) where we will take a short break to enjoy the next waterfall, Pailón del Diablo. Then we will carry on to Machay, the final waterfall, where you will have the opportunity to hike down to the waterfall and cool off in its powerful and refreshing water. After everyone has finished swimming and taking in the impressive Machay, we will head back to Río Verde to enjoy a delicious lunch before heading back to Baños by car.

Biking Macas 2 Days

7:00am Drive from Baños to the Atillo Lagoon
Lunch at the Lagoon
Review the bikes and prepare for the ride
5 hour descent on the road that runs from Riobamba to Macas Camp
3 hours biking until we reach Macas
Visit the area around Macas
Return to Baños in car
