This river runs through the entire Baños canton and has been used for various activities such as rafting, kayaking and serves as a central attraction on the trip to the Ruta de las Cascadas, while in its basins is the Llanganates Ecological Corridor - Sangay. The Pastaza River is born on the slopes of the Tungurahua volcano, which is why it crosses Baños de Agua Santa, until it reaches the Amazon. The river has a wide bed, uneven and fast-flowing, the climate is very humid and tropical, the temperature ranges from 17° to 25° degrees Celsius. Pastaza is an area of great fluvial precipitation present throughout the year.
ACTIVITIES ON THE PASTAZA RIVER
- Illuchi-Sauces Trail: It can be taken as a balcony towards the Pastaza River and a perfect space for athletes and walkers.
- Llanganates - Sangay Ecological Corridor: This corridor extends along the Pastaza river basin from Baños in a length of approximately 47 km, and a width that goes from 1 to 3 km. It is characterized by having a great variety of flora and fauna endemic to the area.
- Rafting: This activity is carried out in fast-flowing rivers such as the Pastaza, it goes from class or level 3, 3 pluss and 4.
- Kayaking: This sport consists of descending rivers in small individual boats. The degrees of difficulty are similar to those of rafting, but can only be practiced by people with experience.
